Easier Counting of Stitches.
When you are casting on or chaining to begin a large project, place a marker
every twenty stitches as you go along. Then when it is time to recount it is
easy to just count the markers. You can use the little plastic ring markers,
or a loop of yarn for markers when casting on for knitting. For crochet
chains us split markers of little safety pins. Remember when chaining for
the begining, do four or five extra chains so that if you get to the end of
the first row you will have enough stitches. Any you don't need can be
easily taken out.
