Round Knit Baby/Adult Afghan -- Lace edge
Instructions:
10 skeins sport weight yarn (1750 yards)
Needles size 7 (I used circular 29 inch)
For adult or larger afghan use 7 skeins worsted (240 yds
per skein) and size 8 or 9 needles.
Cast on 87 stitches. Work in garter stitch (knit every
row) through out.
Row 1: Knit 85 stitches. Turn.
Row 2: Take yarn to back. Slip first stitch and knit to
end.
Row 3: Knit 83 stitches. Turn.
Continue in this way to work 2 sts less every other row
till there are only 3 stitches worked. Then knit 2 rows
on all 87 stitches. This completes one section. Do not
bind off. Start again with row 1 and continue until you
have completed 12 sections. Bind off loosely. Seam
together, and draw up circle at center.
Lace edging: Cast on 7 stitches.
Row 1 and all odd rows: knit.
Row 2: Sl 1, k 2, yo, k2tog., yo, k2.
Row 4: Sl 1, k 3, yo, k2tog, yo, k2.
Row 6: Sl 1, k4, yo, k2tog, yo, k2.
Row 8: Sl 1, k 1, k2tog, yo twice, (in row 9 knit one yo
and purl one yo) k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo k2.
Row 10: S1, k 10.
Row 11: Bind off 4 sts., k 6.
Repeat from Row 2 until piece fits around afghan. Bind
off and sew to edge of afghan.
